This gathering brings together makers, reflectors and educators who share a keen interest in approaches
to learning. Is the metaphor of the factory, deeply embedded in the industrial imagination that has shaped pedagogy at the IDC School of Design? As India seeks to ramp up its industrial manufacturing infrastructure,
it is imperative to equip graduates with skills and knowledge to innovate new products. However, balancing
high growth rates and environmental sustainablity, is far from easy. Emerging technologies, such as AI, 
generate alienating realities that appear to take human kind further away from metaphors such as that of
the garden or the forest. Voltaire's reflection in Candide -  "That is very well put, but we must cultivate our garden" - could well be a starting point for this gathering.
