Taxis are synonymous with Mumbai and there is a need for the taxis to cater to the different needs of Mumbai commuters. The scope of this project was to identify the issues regarding interiors that are specific to the taxi commuters of Mumbai and come out with an interior design solution that can address the issues. The main focus was on the seating layout and the arrangement of seats within a given space taking the vehicle architecture into consideration. The taxi interior would also cater to differently–abled commuters with wheelchairs as there are not many such available. Also the taxi can double up as a mini cargo vehicle by folding the rear seats.
