WOTEL Workshop held at Chennai:
May 1999
The first major activity of VCTEL was a conference on technology enhanced learning in Chennai in May 1999. This meeting brought together leading experts from government, industry, and education to explore the role of information technology in providing greater access and enhancement to education.

Meeting at IIT Bombay:
Feb 2000
Since that meeting VCTEL has met in Chennai and Mumbai to design four major initiatives. These include: · Digital libraries · Redesign of basic science courses using new forms of technology · Collaborative doctoral education using technology enhanced learning environments · Distributed educational environments for industry.

A modified copy of the proposals in each of the areas was finalised in IIT Madras and a copies of this has been mailed to all members in May 2000.
