Understanding Lives of People with Disabilities

The objective of the internship was to gain insight into the life of people with Cerebral Palsy (CP). The user study consisted of visits to all 4 centres in Mumbai, meeting care takers, special educators, social workers, physiotherapists and people with CP. 6 people with varying levels of CP were observed at the 4 centres for a period of four weeks. The process followed was to assist the students in their day–care activities in association with the special educators. Observing their day to day activities made their challenges evident. The insights gained from this experience helped in understanding the history of each person and how treatment had helped them in performing their activities.
