Portable Bath Support for Infants
Guided By Prof. R Sandesh and Prof. V P Bapat
Most newborn babies get bath every
morning right from birth. The traditional
way is for the mother, grandmother or
nurse (dai) to sit on the bath floor or on
a very short stool with their legs outstretched
in front and crossed at the
ankles. The baby either lies along the
legs with his head towards the body of the
adult or is placed across the legs facing
downwards. It gets really difficult for the
mother to sit in this manner.
Available bath tubs in the market are not
comfortable enough to support infant’s
tender neck and head. The final design is
a portable bath support, which provides
comfort and reassurance for parent and
baby (0–6 months) at bath time. |
