Exploration in Ceramics: Flower Pot Lighting
Summer Internship at Shantiniketan, West Bengal
The internship provided scope for learning
something entirely new at Silpa Sadana
which is the Centre for Rural Craft,
Technology and Design – an institution
of the Visva-Bharati University.
As a product design student, avenues
were open to explore these processes
and methods of pottery and ceramics
and come up with interesting products.
Consequently I explored the processes
of pinching, coiling, and throwing and
slabbing to come up with products such
as tea cups, lighting fixtures etc. I further
laid emphasis on designing a lighting
product cum flower pot for houseboats
and resorts in Kerala inspired from Kerala
art and tradition. |
