Simple Relativity
Guided By Prof. Sumant Rao

Have you ever wondered how your clock actually measures time? Is this forward moving time really constant? Can you bend time? Albert Einstein – the God of Nerds – in 1905 answered these questions to the amazement of the world through his discovery of Special Theory of Relativity.

But only a few understood them. Simple Relativity is a 2D short educational animation film that attempts to demonstrate Albert Einstein’s Special Theory of Relativity with simple visual representations and exciting animation.

In a time when our day–to–day life is surrounded by technology, most people find it daunting to understand its applications and the science behind it. Simple Relativity is an attempt to excite the viewers about the complex phenomenon of Relativity so that they can approach not only Relativity but other scientific concepts in general, with a lot more curiosity than inhibition. This short film is a first of a series of such educational shorts. The further development of this project will incorporate topics such as ‘Time Travel’ and the infamous ‘Grandfather Effect’, along with the explanation of how mass – energy equivalence principle (E=mc2) and the GPS in your smartphones work.
