Temple Town of Kumbhakonam - Tourist Guide Book

India prides itself of a rich and diverse cultural heritage. Many ancient towns and cities of important historical and religious value are visited by thousands of tourists and pilgrims every year. But several of these places do not have proper guide books. Kumbhakonam is one of them. It was during a study trip to this town in February that I was inspired to make a guide book for Kumbhakonam. The main challenge in the project was to organize and structure the vast and varied information for a large and diverse audience. The project explored making a book befitting the context – one that belongs to and speaks about the place. Technically, the project helped me to learn different aspects of book design such as typography, grids, layout, composition, printing, photography and book binding. |
