Malaria diagnostic system
Guide: Prof. Ravi Poovaiah
The objective of my project was to design an efficient malaria diagnostic system for India, addressing the various challenges typical of system design. The proposed design is an adaptive system, which reduces the load on the acutely shorthanded skilled technicians and doctors, and allows a normal health worker or in another adaptation, a small private business, to perform 90% of the diagnostic process with ease. With a detailed analysis of the activities of each player in the system, the design allows remote diagnosis, easy access to streamlined data and drastically reduces time taken in the process. The real beneficiary, however, are the lower and lower middle class people who suffer complications from malaria due to lack of awareness and timely diagnosis. Being a highly socially relevant subject, the project is a part of COSMIC (Centre of Social Media Innovations for Communities), a collaborative effort of NTU and NUS at Singapore and IIT Bombay. |
