“Ek Rupaiyah” – An animated short on abandoned children

A film on abandoned children, “Ek Rupaiyah” is on a little incident that most people in Mumbai would have come across. A beggar girl coming and holding our hand is not new to us; the film just tries to look at the whole act from the kid’s point of view. The small period of research that I was with the kids had left a few imprints in me and the movie is a result of this.

Centered around the picture of the kid holding a girl’s hand the film shows the difference in the meaning of this act to the kid and to the rest of the people. The technique used was 2D cell animation, with hand rendering using colour pencils

Internship in Game Design at Trine games, Mumbai

We were in the game design group, and worked under the game designer. The ongoing project was that of an add-on Gothic: Forsaken Gods. The story had been decided before we joined and our job involved designing the quests. This meant finding missions for the player to accomplish - the main and the side quests. At TRINE, the designers were also responsible for implementation of the quests, which involved penning down the dialogues, modifying the terrain to suit the quests, placing the entities (both people and objects) and the test run.

Learning: Got to go through the entire process hierarchy in a gaming industry. As a practice exercise, had made the design document for a self designed conceptual game, “Hush−a−bye−baby”.

Animation on "Fear"

Fear is one emotion that few of us are very fond of, but sadly cannot help to be without. The project was aimed to look at myself, what went on in my mind during my final semester. To all tensions and fear that also existed generally with the conditions in the market, a small metaphor of a clown – who laughs at anything – was added, thinking of how life laughs at us. 2D animation is used.

The style is on the comical side, but the colour palette is chosen to give a dark outlook to the whole movie
