The programme envisages developing graduates with better maturity in handling communication design problems, a deeper understanding of aesthetic aspects, and generating methods for solving communication problems. The emphasis is to be a creative problem solver, who can effectively use various design methods and systematically find appropriate solutions. During the first year the students are given opportunities to learn new skills in different media and to advance their level of understanding. Students are encouraged to take up projects that solve social and educational needs. Students take up projects in the following fields of design at IDC
Students undertake three major projects during the second year. The projects start with a month’s summer training in the industry. Two of the four projects are proposed by the students and are related to their fields of interest, which are very diverse. They also write a research paper, proposals for which are floated by faculty. The projects are aimed at applying all the skills learnt during the course, and also exploring new areas of interest.
