About

The IDC School of Design, IIT Bombay, is happy to announce a two-day event targeted to two groups of people. One group will be designers from India who have done a PhD within the past ten years or are about to complete their PhD soon (2013-2023). The second group will be designers, engineers, architects, or artists across India who might be interested in doing a Design PhD in the future.

This event is for those still deciding if they should take a plunge into a 4 to 5-year commitment for a PhD. It is meant for those interested in design research, who want to do a PhD, but need help developing a concrete PhD proposal.

At this event, we will invite eminent researchers in the domain of design, post-doctoral designers from India, and designers interested in doing a design PhD. The event will include invited talks, experience reports, a showcase of IDC's research, including both faculty members and students, and panel discussions by experts from academia and industry.

There will be opportunities to explore specific areas of mutual interest and develop a proposal for a PhD. This event will be an opportunity for designers to interact with eminent researchers in their domain.

Participate

The registrations are now closed. We have received over 100 applications from participants interested in doing a design PhD. After shortlisting, we have 66 registered participants for the event.

Participants are expected to make their own travel arrangements. We will be providing hostel accommodation to some of the registered participants. Lunch, tea, and snacks will be provided during the event.

We have 3 keynote speakers and 13 Post-PhD experts from academia and industry joining us for the event.
