Re-design of the The Mother and Child Protection card records health and immunisation status of children between the ages of 0 to 16 years. It is an important part of the Universal Immunization Program run by the Government of India for free. A home-based physical record and a clinic side copy of the card exists for each child immunized under UIP. Contextual enquiries conducted at civic health posts in Mumbai and analysis of immunisation cards from Bihar, Gujarat and Maharashtra revealed issues such as problems of comprehension, effort required and accuracy of information while entering and retrieving data faced by healthcare service providers, caregivers of the child, surveyors and policy-makers. This redesign is an attempt to tackle such issues to create a user friendly card. |
