Topic: Quest for identity

Description: Has it ended? Or Just Begun? Or will that continue forever? How design is delivered? What is designers' identity in the current world when design gets practiced & promoted by non-designers? Do we need to adapt to different structures for delivering design beyond a studio approach that we are so used to? When a profession is driven by individuality/ individual philosophy how do designers cope in the new world where design is seen as a collaborative activity? What does this mean to designer's belief and conduct? Are we a tool, the cause or the effect?

By drawing experiences from working for the Government, Startups and Large Enterprise over the last 2-1/2 decades covering industry domains of Elearning, Energy and Business Process Services (Outsourcing) Ravi shall explore some of the above questions to seek further deliberations by the designer community.

Speaker Bio: Ravi currently drives the UX design for Digital Platforms in Finance and Accounting for the Cognitive Process division at IBM India. Prior to this he served and instituted the UX practice at Business Process Services, Wipro. His career span of over 2-1/2 decades is split into two major industry segments - Online Learning Industry (15 + years), and Enterprise Business Process(outsourcing) (10 + years). He considers being a designer in a generation that witnessed the rise of design in a disruptive technology and business transformation a boon.

LinkedIn Profile

Topic: X years in UX

Description: A retrospective account of the decade that I spent as an Interaction Designer in India. This is a highly personal, and yes, subjective, but an honest introspection on my life as a designer that began, in some ways, during the years preceding IDC. It takes a look at what I learnt at IDC, through my work as a corporate designer and as a consulting entrepreneur. As we all find our own unique way in this field, I share my journey in the hope that it helps my colleagues take some thoughts back home.

Speaker Bio: An interaction designer from the batch of 2007-2009, Milind has worked as a designer, design researcher, product manager and an entrepreneur. After spending a few years with Samsung Bangalore and Adobe Systems, Milind co-founded And/Or Design to consult with a number of inspiring companies, setting up design practice at places such as Cure.fit. Milind currently works with Google, as a designer on the Google Apps team and resides in Bangalore.

Topic: Art, Design and Technology

Description: Having transitioned from being an engineer to designer to an artist and back, we are now working across all these domains. It has been a rollercoaster ride for the past 10-15 years, and would love to share various aspects of it as part of this conversation.

Speaker Bio: Despite cosmic efforts to push him towards the medical profession, Mooshir started his educational journey as an Engineer only to end up as an artist. In between this transition he realised his love for Design as well as all things creative. Which goes on to say that he has a Bachelors in Computer Engineering, a Masters in Visual Communication and a Masters from ITP, NYU. He is an Inlaks scholar and his works have been displayed across many galleries in New York, Barcelona and Ireland. He is also passionate about teaching and contributes to Interaction design course at IDC, IIT Bombay. Mooshir can cut silence with his hmmms, yet he is the rock that holds Rayden firmly. To him there is nothing that cannot be done, every deadline is achievable and time holds it's breath when he works. He is fond of listening to music and making everyone else listen to it, which unfortunately doesn't make him the most liked person, especially on scores of Italian opera.

Topic: My Design Journey

Description: Design career can be esoteric, fuzzy but nailing the fuzziness and making sense of the chaos through creativity, objectivity, empathy and business sense is what connects and celebrates the beauty of the contrasts. By embracing disruptions and chaos, learning and unlearning as we go and holding on to the core philosophy that is ingrained from IDC, we will always remain relevant. Let us talk about my journey from a clueless introvert to a curious designer and entrepreneur; I believe we will learn from each other.

Speaker Bio: Auro is a UX leader with cross functional UX expertise with 19+ years of experience in the area of user research and user-centric design. He has co-founded peepaldesign (www.peepaldesign.com), a Bangalore based full cycle UX consultancy with global reach through Uxalliance. His clientele includes fortune 500 companies to craft user experience and design strategy. He conducts UX-PM workshops and certifications for industry leaders. Prior to his entrepreneurship he worked with SAP Labs and holds couple of US patents to his credit. He will host Uxmasterclass (www.uxmasterclass.com) in Mumbai on 03 April 2020.
