6 Day Workshop:
Creative Design Methods and Innovation'


31st October - 5th November 2017 from 9.30am - 5.30 pm
at IDC, IIT Bombay



 Introduction:

The course Expo CDMI - Creative Design Methods and Innovation is a course with focus on hands on workshop on the essentials of Appropria te Problem Solving through the use of Creative Design Methods. The course will inform the participants about the complete aspects of Design Process including Need Finding, Design Analysis, Problem Space Visualisation, Visual Affinity Mappings, Concept Diagrams, Prototyping Tools, User Testing and Feedback, Iterative Creative Concept Generation, Scenarios and Presention Techniques. The workshop will also delve upon Design and I nnovation, Information Visualis ation, Product Form and Visual Elements, Designing for Products and Interactions, etc.

The course is scheduled to have lecture and discussion sessions in the morning followed by workshops on Creative Problem Solving Methods Workshop sessions in the afternoon. The participants will work as collaborative partners as a team to solve a design problem. Good design practice effec tively applied, results in innovative, meaningful, ergonomic and appropriate products.

In addition, it can result in a highly marketable product with a lasting brand value. This principle has been demonstrated man y times by design conscious firms. When logic of good design is practiced and implemented, products capture and sustain consumer demand in a competitive market place. With the change in economic scenario and opening up of Indian economy, competition is from all over the world. Introducing new and innovative products is essential. The products have to be designed to suit the user's needs. The products need to be friendly, affordable, appropriate, ecologically sound, and visually pleasing and in addition suited for the competitive global marketplace.

Design Workshop: hands-on sessions
The participants will work on a specific Design project, with expert guidance from faculty members. These design solutions will be presented at the end of the session and discussed with faculty members from IDC.

- Design Inspired by Nature Design Problem Solving.
