Admissions for international students
International student is one who holds foreign passport, or has Indian passport but is studying outside India and wants to do partial studies at IIT Bombay

General Information for full M Des degree:
Admission for a full programme with degree from IIT Bombay

For M Des degree - Admissions are made based on previous academic performance and portfolio (details with the application form)

Offer will be made based on recommendations received from the department.

The fees at present are US $ 2500.00 for the first semester and US $ 2000.00 for the subsquent semesters. ( For Applicants from SAARC countries, the fees are US $ 1500.00 for the first semester and US $ 1000.00 for the subsquent semesters). You will be given hostel accommodation on the campus. Your other expenses are expected to be about US $ 200 - 300 pm.

You will need to get student visa from the Indian Embassy in your country. The M Des programme starts usually in the 3rd week of July. The schedule for admission is available at our web-site

Admissions for international students for a course/ project work for a semester or less:
You may wish to study a semester or carry out your project / research work at IIT Bombay for a limited duration (2 months upto 1 year)

If you are an exchange student:
If you wish to come as exchange student under memorandum of your Institute with IIT Bombay, the fees / charges will be as per the terms of Memorandum. The admission procedure will be as follows :
Send your application through your Dean to the Dy. Registrar (Academic) at IIT Bombay, Powai, Mumbai 400076, India

If you are a visiting student and not an exchange student:
send your application giving full details of your education and academic performance, to the Dean International Relations or Head of the Department, or the faculty with whom you wish to do the project work.

Admission offers will be made based on the recommendation of the department / faculty.

You will need to obtain student visa for the duration of your visit.

In case you plan to take transfer of credits for your course work done here, you must plan the courses (in consultation with your faculty advisor at your university) beforehand and inform the Head of the Department here. You should ensure that you have the right background to do the course work here.
